DescriptionDescription: Brown, red and green stains scattered over the drawing. Watermark: Bird (close to Heawood 163) Numbered at lower right in pen and brown ink: 820 (Sparre) and 34 (struck out). No. 971 (recto) inscribed on a scroll hold by an angel: OCH SIGNUN VI (distortion of IN HOC SIGNO VINCES?) The drawing is by a close follower of Annibale, and several potential candidates have been identified. Catherine Johnston suggested Francesco Albani or G.A. Sirani, while Babette Bohn prposed Lucio Massari. Carel van Tuyll, on the other hand, finds the verso very close to Guido Reni. As there are obvious similarities between the drawing style of Reni and Antonio Catherine Loisel has suggested the possibility that the drawing, both recto and verso, might be a work by Antonio [Bjurström, It. Drawings, cat. no. 1439]
