DescriptionDescription: Point of brush in grey, grey wash on brown paper, heightened with white, 192 x 230 mm. Ruled framing lines in brown ink. Mark of the Royal Museum (Lugt 1638). Numbered on the old mount, in pen and brown ink, 96 (struck out) and 1767 (Sparre). This drawing is part of a series of illustrations for Battista Guarini’s Il pastor fido. The series seems to have comprised some 26 drawings, executed around 1640–50. Nine of these have been traced to collections in Hannover, Linz and Paris. [Magnusson, Dutch Drawings no. 98]
