DescriptionDescription: Both of these French appliqués are based on originals by Juste-Aurèle Meissonier, a French designer, born in Turin, who was one of the most influential figures in Rococo. Meisssonier’s creations are characterised by the exuberant use of natural forms and no surface is left untouched in the effort to give every object a decorative organic form. Volumes of engravings of his works circulated widely in both France and throughout Europe.
