DescriptionDescription: This German porcelain box has a décor of fables painted in many colours. A fable is a short, allegorical tale with a moral, illustrated by the actions of animals with human characteristics. These stories were popular in the 18th century and were read by and to children. The box is unsigned, but it could be the work of KPM, Königliche Porzellan-Manufaktur, Berlin, which was founded by Frederick the Great in 1763.
