DescriptionDescription: Odin comes riding at full gallop on his eight-footed horse, Sleipner. Above his head fly Huginn and Muninn, the two ravens and he is seen holding his spear Gungnir. The textile was composed by Gerhard Munthe, a Norwegian artist who developed a decorative style inspired by Norwegian folk art at the turn of the century 1900. He was also interested in Old Norse subjects and, inter alia, illustrated Snorre Sturlasson’s Heimskringla.
