Beskrivning: Rosa måste ha varit mycket nöjd med sin ursprungliga tecknade Diogenesstudie. Förutom att den ligger nära hans första målning med motivet från tidigt 1640-tal, kom han tio år senare, cirka 1651–52, att förstora upp och återanvända ett urval av figurerna från studien i en mycket större målning av dem i närbild. Senare, cirka 1661–62, skapade han också en etsning där han behöll samma fokus på de centrala figurerna.

Beskrivning: Rosa must have been extremely satisfied with his original drawing for a study of Diogenes. Besides the fact that it closely resembles the first painting of the subject from the early 1640s, some ten years later, c. 1651-52, he scaled up the drawing, reusing a choice of figures for the study in a much bigger painting showing them in close-up. Later, about 1661-62, he also created an etching in which he kept the same focus on the central figures.
