DescriptionDescription: The artist’s own thoughts, for the exhibition Expressions in Glass 2019 Red Square (Palace). An entirely new world, a fairy-tale world, opened up for me when I came to Skruf glassworks in the winter of 1964. The clatter of the tools, the flaming ovens, the shimmering softness of the glass material, it was all fantastic, new and exciting. A fairytale palace took shape in my imagination, I could see it before my very eyes. During the nights I worked on shaping graphite moulds that the different parts of the sculpture were to be blown into. The skilful glassblowers gave the spires their own shapes, all different. The different sections were put together – and there was my first castle. This castle was displayed in my first exhibition in Stockholm in 1965 and gave rise to great astonishment and publicity.
