DescriptionDescription: The décor is inspired by Taddeo Zuccaro’s drawings from 1562 with the motif of the history of Julius Caesar. Caesar defeated Scipio and King Juba I of Numidia in a battle at Thapsus in North Africa in the year 46 BC. Both died in the battle. This was celebrated with a triumphal procession in Rome. Caesar brought the son, Juba II, to Rome, where he was raised. He was married to a daughter of Cleopatra VII and Mark Antony and appointed king of Mauretania.
