DescriptionDescription: This gold box is unusually large for a Swedish box, and technically superlative. It was made by Franz Bergs, the leading Swedish Rococo goldsmith. His work was appreciated abroad as well, and some of it was destined for immediate export. Bergs’ skills led to his becoming court jeweller in 1742; among his commissions were alterations to the royal crown for Adolf Fredrik’s coronation in 1751.
