DescriptionDescription: This is one of several library cupboards that probably formed part of the furnishing of Sofia Albertina’s palace, today the Foreign Office, in Stockholm. Imbued with Classicism’s austere elegance its well-proportioned contours distinguish bearing and resting elements, and the veneers are allowed to outweigh its restrained decorative details. Once ascribed to Gustaf Adolph Ditzinger, the cupboard is now thought to have been made in Berlin c. 1800.
