DescriptionDescription: Inscribed in pen and brown ink along lower left: Antonio Pollajolo. Numbered in pen and brown ink 148 at upper left, 4 and 47 (Sparre) at lower right The subject of the drawing recto is mysterious, but Carmen Bambach suggests that it may be loosely based on an episode in the myth of Hercules and the giant Cacus, telling how Cacus stole some of the cattle that Hercules had captured from Geryon after killing the monster. While the hero was asleep, Cacus dragged the cattle backwards into his cave, pulling them by their tails.
