DescriptionDescription: On a small area, Tessin created a garden for his own city palace. As on a stage, he created illusions of spatial depth by shifting proportions and perspectives. The frontal embroidery-patterned parterre repeats the courtyard’s shape through diverging lines. On this there are two freestanding niche buildings. The architect exaggerated the proportions of the background building and its crown section to reinforce the illusionistic perspective.
