DescriptionDescription: The voyeuse was named for its function. The chair was intended for use in connection with card games, which became very popular in 18th-century salons. The top of the backrest is broad and padded. An observer behind a seated player had a convenient place to rest a hand. Johan Erik Höglander and Erik Öhrmark both became master craftsmen in Stockholm in 1777 and are considered to the leading late 18th-century Swedish chair-makers.
