DescriptionDescription: Numbered in pen and brown ink at lower right: 1564 (Sparre) Gere initially thought the drawing a copy after a lost early drawing by Taddeo Zuccaro, similar in style to "Camillus and the Roman Matrons" in the Louvre. He has later included it among early drawings by Pirro Ligorio who, like Zuccaro, was at that time strongly influenced by Polidoro da Caravaggio. The technique suggests a drawing for a facade grisaille, a genre that seems to have occupied Ligorio during the 1540s. [Bjurström, It. Drawings, cat. no. 481]
