DescriptionDescription: Numbered in pen and brown ink in the upper left corner "19", and in the lower right corner "236" (Sparre) and "82" (struck out) This is a "garzone" study for an angel supporting the Christ Child. The artist has tried two different positions of the arms and hands, and added a few strokes to suggest wings. The motif was used in the middle scene of a triptych for the Certosa in Pavia, painted between 1496 and 1500. It is also found in a Madonna in the Uffizi, dated to the same period. [Bjurström, It.
