DescriptionDescription: Inscribed on the old mount in pen and brown ink "Premiere manière de Raphael. Cabinet de Crozat" (C G Tessin). Numbered in pen and brown ink in the upper left corner "1866", in the lower left corner "8", and in the lower right corner "237" (Sparre), "95" (struck out) and "1" (struck out). Tessin's inscription, indicating that this drawing is in Raphael's first or early manner, clearly derives from Mariette, who in turn relied on the classification of the artist's development that Vasari had established around 1550.
