DescriptionDescription: Axel Salto’s textile pattern appears abstract but depicts his stoneware vases with organic shapes, like seed pods. Salto studied painting in Copenhagen and, when visiting Paris, Picasso and Matisse made a great impression. In the 1920s he worked as a designer and, after success with the Danish manufacturer Bing & Grøndahl, he focused on ceramics. He is famous for his strong organic shapes and vibrant glazes.
