DescriptionDescription: Numbered in pen and black ink in lower right corner: 1117 (Sparre), on verso in pen and black ink: 34 Lorenzo Pasinelli Drawn for an engraving (in reverse) which records a lost fresco by Ludovico Carracci, once in the cloister of the monastery of S. Michele in Bosco, Bologna. Lorenzo Pasinelli was a pupil of Cantarini and this drawing belonged to him. It is very likely that all the Cantarini sheets from lot 601 in the Crozat sale share the same provenance. Pasinelli was an important collector of Bolognese drawings and a substantial part of Crozat's collection of Bolognese drawings came from him (see the introduction). Ludovico's own drawing for the composition is at Windsor Castle [Bjurström, It. Drawings, cat. no. 1326]
