DescriptionDescription: Inscribed in pen and brown ink at lower right: girlandai . (same hand as nos. 1018, 1023, 1024, 1025, 1029 and 1031). Numbered in pen and brown ink at upper left : 193, at lower right: 72. (Sparre) and 12 (struck out) Neither Sirén's attribution to Francesco Granacci, nor Berenson's to Giovanni Antonio Sogliani is convincing. Catherine Goguel has suggested an artist in the Ghirlandaio circle while Degenhart attributes the recto to Sangallo, comparing the sheet stylistically with other drawings by the master. He does not treat the verso which, drawn on the same piece of paper, fits well into the Sangallo context. [Bjurström, It. Drawings, cat. no. 1017 (recto)]
