DescriptionDescription: Inscribed in pen and brown ink at lower right: Pollajolo; Numbered in pen and brown ink at lower right: 46. (Sparre) and 6 (struck out) This drawing was first connected with the name of Finiguerra by Sirén in 1902, in which he was obviously influenced by Sidney Colvin. Sirén later abandoned this attribution which, however, has been revitalised by Degenhart & Schmitt, who have brought together a vast material of over 100 drawings connected with the London Chronicle, at times attributed to Finiguerra. These drawings are by various artists. The group brought together by Degenhart & Schmitt contains groups of nudes (21), heads (13), legs and arms (11), clothed figures (33), figures from compositions (15), compositions (3), animals (18), to which is added a group of 23 drawings in the Louvre. Of the main part of the group over 90 belong to the Uffizi, the remaining twenty or so are scattered in different collections. The closest parallels to our drawing are to be found in the Uffizi and the Louvre. [Bjurström, It. Drawings, cat. no. 1005]
