DescriptionDescription: Inscribed in pen and brown ink at lower left: Beato fra da fiesole. Numbered in pen and brown ink at upper right: ?34, in the left margin: 36 (before Vasari), at lower right 36 (overpainted) and 3 Berenson pronounced the figure identical with that of the young man who appears clothed in the "Rape of Helen" in the National Gallery, London, a work from Benozzo's youth. Berenson also compares it with Benozzo's "St. Sebastian" in the church of S. Francesco at Montefalco and another "St. Sebastian" in the church of S. Agostino at S. Gimignano. This sheet was once part of a little album of drawings now in the Museum Boyman-Van Beuningen in Rotterdam, the drawings in which may be partly by Benozzo, partly by his pupils. In Nationalmuseum there are three more sheets originating from this album, nos. 1027, 1059 and 1061. A workshop copy of the drawing is in the Albertina. [Bjurström, It.
