DescriptionDescription: Inscribed in pen and brown ink on the mount along the lower edge: Beato Gio da Fiesole Domenicano Scola di Masacio mori l'anno 1455. Numbered at lower right in pen and brown ink: 35. (Sparre) and 1 Attributed to Traini by Degenhart and Schmitt. A rare and important compositional study from the first half of the 14th century. The way of forming the narrow and powerful group of figures is characterstic of Traini and compares well with his pictures from the life of Saint Dominic (Museo Nazionale, Pisa), from c. 1345 [Bjurström, It. Drawings, cat. no. 1039]
