DescriptionDescription: Ivar Arosenius was of a delicate constitution as a result of his haemophilia. His art often alludes to this fact, to the way death was constantly watching over him. In his portrait of Arosenius, Waller seems to have picked up on this, depicting a figure in a melancholy pose bordering on the resigned. At the same time, in its execution it borrows something of Arosenius’s formal idiom, with the slightly exaggerated arms and legs and pointed facial features.
