DescriptionDescription: Anna Behle introduced modern dance to Sweden. This portrait was made the year she saw Isadora Duncan dance. Behle studied eurhythmics under Émile Jaques-Dalcroze and ancient sculpture at the Nationalmuseum. In 1907 she opened a dance institute in Stockholm. Maj Bring painted her portrait while a student of Carl Wilhelmson. He made certain “corrections”, causing the artist to lose her self-confidence. It would be a long time before she was able to return to the work.
