DescriptionDescription: Robert Lundberg liked to paint scenes of contemporary life from his native Stockholm. This portrait of Gustaf “Frippe” Fredrikson is a kind of snapshot image, seemingly capturing its subject on the move outside the Royal Dramatic Theatre, which he managed. Fredrikson was one of the most successful actors of the late 19th century. He is considered to have renewed Swedish acting in a more realistic direction, based on his experiences as a student in Paris.
