The building isdesigned with its façade on the Corso, one rectangular chapel on each side of the nave, two lateral doors leading to the portico in the courtyard, a deep, projecting transept and an equally deep choir with a protruding semicircular apse. Above the crossing is an oval transversal dome, as in the alternative project NM H CC 2072 (Cat. no. 119). Left to the entrance from the Corso is a door that leads to the old chapel of the hospital. On the sides of the first two chapels Volterra designs two rectangular sacristies with access from the portico in the courtyard and from the church.
