DescriptionDescription: The artist is today best known for her small sculptures in bronze from the turn of the 20th century. At the time, Milles lived in Paris and portrayed romantic fishing girls from Brittany and Holland. When she moved back to Sweden, the figures became more realistic and depicted scenes from the everyday life of the working class. Ruth Milles also wrote and illustrated picture books for children. She was educated at the Royal Academy in Stockholm.
