DescriptionDescription: Magnus von Wright found fame with his paintings of birds, but he was also a skilled landscape painter. In the summer of 1861, von Wright visited Major-General Clas Alfred Stjernvall in Lielax, close to Tammerfors in Finland. His detailed dairies describe how this painting of the estate took shape, first through sketches and later on canvas. It a typical example of the paintings of that era. On the afternoon of 1 September 1861, he painted “air for the Lielaks picture”. The painting was finished on 17 November.
