Beskrivning: Georges Michel var utbildad konstnär, men tvingades tidigt livnära sig som målerikonservator. Han bistod bl.a. konsthandlaren Lebrun, gift med den berömda Elisabeth Vigée-Lebrun. Detta är förklaringen till att Georges Michel tidigt tog intryck av 1600-talets holländska landskap. Konstnären fann motiven i grannskapet till sin egen bostad på Montmartre. Ofta återkommer han till traktens många väderkvarnar, skildrade mot en stor ovädershimmel.

Beskrivning: Georges Michel was a trained artist, but early on was forced to make his living as a painting conservator. His work included assisting the art dealer Lebrun, the spouse of the famous artist Elisabeth Vigée-Lebrun. Georges Michel was thus influenced by 17th-century Dutch landscapes at an early stage. The artist found his subjects in his Montmartre neighbourhood and often returned to the many local windmills against backdrops of large stormy skies.
