Beskrivning: Bintou ingår i Simon Skinners serie med afrokammar som var hans examensprojekt i industridesign från Konstfack 2018. Serien har designats för åtta specifika individer med afrikanskt påbrå efter Skinners samtal med dem om identitet, hårkvalitet och livsstil.

Bintou är en kam för afrohår (en så kallad utredningskam) men designen är inte en typisk afrokam. Personen Bintou har starka band till sina gambianska rötter och kammens design har inspirerats av Gambias färgstarka textiltradition. Kammen blir till en modern tolkning av historien med ett samtida multikulturellt uttryck.

Beskrivning: Bintou is part of Simon Skinner’s series of Afro combs, his degree project in industrial design at the University of Arts, Crafts and Design (Konstfack) in 2018. The series was designed for eight specific individuals of African descent, following Skinner’s conversations with them about identity, hair quality and lifestyle.

Bintou is a comb for Afro hair (a detangling comb), but the design is not that of a typical Afro comb. The person Bintou has strong ties to her Gambian roots, and the design of the comb was inspired by the colourful textile tradition of that country. This comb is a modern interpretation of history, with a contemporary multicultural expression.
