DescriptionExhibition text: Nine young men are bent on their studies. In this tightly framed study, Leprince shows artists sharing the same studio and training together – as he did with his two brothers and other artists in Paris's 6th arrondissement. This is one of the few studies that Leprince, famous from an early age for his picturesque landscapes and genre scenes, devoted to artists at work or socializing in the studio. He participated to the rise of the motif, and in 1826, just before his death, he painted a large studio scene (Madison, USA).
