DescriptionDescription: This desk was used by Gustav III in his apartment at the Royal Opera. Georg Haupt is the most famous Swedish 18th century cabinetmaker. After his apprenticeship with carpenter Fredrik August Eckstein, he travelled to Amsterdam, Paris and London as a journeyman. In 1769, he was appointed court cabinetmaker by King Adolph Frederick. His relatively small workshop produced extremely high-quality furniture.
