DescriptionExhibition text: Since the Impressionists’ first exhibition in 1874, Morisot had been part of the core group. Her paintings were perceived as the very essence of Impressionism due to their bold and sketchy execution. Not only stylistically but also thematically, this painting is characteristic of Morisot, as it depicts the relationship between two women up close. The outdoor scene is set in the Bois de Boulogne, a park that was a popular destination for the Parisian bourgeoisie.
