DescriptionDescription: The paintings are examples of the sottobosco motif, close-up depictions of amphibians and insects. The animals are represented with scientific accuracy and seemingly in their natural environment, but they were usually studied separately and then assembled into an aesthetically pleasing composition. The subject is basically an allegory of the struggle between good and evil.
