Beskrivning: I maj 1881 avslutade Richard Bergh sin utbildning vid Konstakademien i Stockholm för att resa till Frankrike där han fullföljde sina studier. Det här porträttet av en pojke kan ha kommit till under sommaren före konstnärens avresa. Det ligger nära till hands att modellen är en släkting till Bergh – dels för att han sällan tog porträttuppdrag men även eftersom målningen tills nyligen gått i arv i hans släkt.

Beskrivning: Richard Bergh finished studying at the Royal Swedish Academy of Fine Arts in Stockholm in May 1881. He then travelled to France, where he completed his studies. This portrait of a boy may have been done in the summer before his departure. It is possible that the model was a relative of Bergh – partly because he rarely took portrait commissions, but also because until recently the portrait was a family heirloom.
