DescriptionDescription: The artists were fascinated by the traditional way of life of farmers and fishermen, which was in the process of disappearing due to industrialization. Artist colonies emerged in Brittany, Normandy, Grez-sur-Loing, Skagen and Saint Ives. But there is a crucial difference between Hugo Salmson’s idealized French models and Christian Krogh’s realist portrayal of the Gailhede family in Skagen.
