DescriptionDescription: Johan Liljencrants, born Westerman, was the son of a regimental chaplain and would achieve great success in life, eventually resulting in him being made a count. This portrait by Lorens Pasch the Younger shows him dressed in the magnificent ermine-trimmed red mantle of a councillor of the realm. It was above all his position as a high official responsible for the country’s finances that made him such an influential figure. There is also a study of the sitter’s head in the National Portrait Gallery collection.
