Beskrivning: Olof Hermelin’s view from Montmartre is an early example of a purely Parisian scene in oils by a Swedish artist. The painting originates from Hermelin’s second visit to the French capital in 1873. That the artist regarded it as more than a pure study is suggested by the anecdotal scene in the alleyway with the policeman arresting a boy.
