DescriptionDescription: Graphite, grey wash, 206 x 540 mm. Brown stains, in particular in the upper right corner. Vertical fold in the centre. Laid down. Illegible inscription in pencil (probably by the artist) in the upper right corner. Signed in the lower left corner, in pen and brown ink, W. V. V. J. A ship with little decoration. There is no prominent figurehead at the prow, but the quarter-gallery is crowned by the figure of St George slaying the dragon. A rope ladder hangs down to a small boat at the stern. The signature is that of Willem the Younger. [Magnusson, Dutch Drawings no. 437]
