DescriptionDescription: Black chalk, point of brush in grey, grey wash, heightened with white, on blue-green paper, 260 x 190 mm. Ruled framing lines in black ink. Laid down. Numbered in the lower right corner, in pen and brown ink, 1753 (Sparre). Mark of the Royal Collection (Lugt 1638). This drawing is unusual in its dramatic lighting and use of coloured paper. The soft rendering of outline and facial features with the brush is similar to that found in a drawing in the Dutuit Collection and in drawings in the British Museum.
