DescriptionDescription: Pen and brown ink, watercolour, 137 x 378 mm. The watercolour is a later addition. Red, blue and grey-brown have been applied to the buildings in the middle ground, and green to the lawn there as well as to some of the trees. Laid down. Mark of the Royal Collection (Lugt 1638). The watercolour added is of the same type as in the landscape attributed to Pieter de With (entry no. 493). The manner is similar to a drawing attributed to Esselens, formerly in the Hermitage. However, the treatment of the trees on the right, with large areas of zigzag hatching, is more akin to Leupenius. [Magnusson, Dutch Drawings no. 244]
