DescriptionDescription: Étienne Bouhot was a long-forgotten artist but was well known in his day. Paris cityscapes were his speciality. They depict the small world, infused with everyday life. Bouhot has captured this in his painting of an unknown Paris street. The sharpness of detail is meticulous, as is the play of light and shadow. The staffage figures add to the depth but are also part of a social context. They serve as actors on a stage.
