DescriptionDescription: Pen and brown ink, brown wash, 98 x 72 mm. No watermark. Numbered in the lower right corner, in pen and brown ink, 1829 (Sparre) and 90 (struck out). Kruse rightly compared this drawing with one in Berlin, which more recently has been attributed by Sumowski to Abraham van Dijck. It is also close in style to another drawing, whose present location is unknown. B.-I. Johansson (Stockholm 1992) notes that, although the wash is much less important in the present drawing, the handling of the lines is similar, and the type of figure represented is found in Van Dijck’s paintings of old women and sibyls.
