DescriptionDescription: Pen and brown ink, 151 x 214 mm. Ruled framing lines in brown; the ink has eaten through the paper and there are losses, in particular along the bottom and on the right. Lower right corner missing, and another loss further up on the right. A thin, horizontal line in brown ink, c. 15 mm from the top, and two more, fainter lines, c. 15 and 30 mm from the bottom. Watermark: Fragment, perhaps a fleur-de-lis in a circle. Chain lines: 28–32 mm. Inscribed in the lower right corner, in greyish ink, Bisbinck (?), and in brown ink, 28 (written vertically, possibly constituting a page number in the upper right corner). Inscribed on the verso, in pencil, ssb 530612 – 48 – maiox (Martin Carlsson). The artist is virtually unknown, which speaks in favour of the attribution. This could be a preparatory drawing for a print, and the thin pen lines, drawn with a ruler, could indicate a change of format. [Magnusson, Dutch Drawings no. 30]
