DescriptionDescription: Fleeing Austria for Sweden in 1933, the architect Josef Frank was hired by Estrid Ericson, founder of Svenskt Tenn, in 1934. Together they built a style in which objects of different origins and expression were mixed to create individual, comfortable interiors. Frank’s vibrant fabric patterns, with long repeats, set the tone: different patterns would typically be used for curtains, cushions and upholstery. Manhattan was designed during the war when Frank, who was Jewish, chose to live in the US..
