DescriptionDescription: This portrait gives the impression of being a snapshot of Gustav III of Sweden. Numerous artists claimed that depicting the king was a challenge, as he found it hard to sit still and constantly surrounded himself with crowds of people. Carl Fredrik von Breda’s portrait of Gustav III is from 1787. The artist travelled to England that year, where the finished portrait was engraved. The text states that is was a royal commission.
