DescriptionDescription: This sculpture portrays Gerda Hagborg, the wife of the artist August Hagborg, who was very successful in France. Per Hasselberg’s rendering is full of life, a transient pose or thought. The portrait reveals no traces of the strict classical ideal that had characterised the art of sculpture until the late 19th century. Hasselberg, like Josephson, was one of the artists who signed the protest against the Academy of Art’s teaching methods (opponenterna).
