DescriptionDescription: Scandinavian Airlines System, SAS, was founded in 1946 by merging the national airlines of Sweden, Norway and Denmark. The new company’s brand identity, designed by Rune Monö, featured the countries’ flags as well as references to dragon boats and journeying Vikings. In 1956 the sides of Douglas DC-4s in SAS livery included a stylised dragon decoration. To this day, all the airline’s aircraft are named after Vikings.
