DescriptionDescription: Lorens Pasch painted this full-length portrait, commissioned by Empress Catherine the Great, for a gallery of Swedish family portraits in Çeşme Castle. The commission came via the Russian envoy in Stockholm, Count Ivan Osterman. In this unique full-length portrait, Louisa Ulrika, the empress’s aunt, is depicted as a widow. The ceremonial dress is stunning, with its sparkling jewels and ermine décor on the crinoline.
