DescriptionDescription: Eckersberg often took walks in Copenhagen harbour. Sometimes he sat down to draw or paint. He painted this work in one day in September 1825. He has not devoted as much effort as in his major works to rendering the vessels accurately. Judging by the extensive foreground, the work is rather a painted image of his personal experience of the place – perhaps the thoughts aroused by the ships, ready as they are to sail away to different foreign ports.
